We arrived in Christchurch on Tuesday, November 1st and checked into the IBIS hotel.  This was a business trip to support S and when available taking in the sites.  I was very busy first couple of days performing IT work at the George, meeting with the operation and IT managers, and the advance leads.  We finally had some time on Friday to check out the sites via Tram and walk around the city which is extremely well layed out.  Still see damage from the earthquake in 2011, especially the cathedral.  Restoration projects are plentiful and I’m excited to see the end result in 5-6 years.  We plan on taking the Gondola and seeing some of the museums as well.  The Re-Start mall is very interesting with shipping containers serving as store fronts.  Botanic gardens are beautiful and many wonderful parks and playground.  I’m definitely enjoying what Christchurch has to offer.

The work part of this trip is going well except for the delay of S going to the ICE.  We all took the Gondola ride which had some nice views at the top and Aiden seemed to enjoy it.  Also, we had a relaxing punting ride on the Avon which is like a “Venice” kayak half hour cruise.  Weather was perfect and we got some nice pictures.  Election happened while we were in Christchurch which turned out to be a total shocker and can’t believe I’ll be saying President Trump from now on.  Fantasy has become reality!
