For me, this was the highlight of our trip. Hobbiton is quite magical. Even though it’s a movie set, everything seemed so real. We started our journey at the Matamata iSite where aour friendly bus driver took us on a 20 minute ride to the set. During the bus ride, he gave us tidbits on Hobbiton, Peter Jackson, and showed some video clips of the movies. Made some funny jokes as well which kept all of us entertained throughout. We reached our destination and met up with our guide who proceeded to take us on our tour. Once we entered the set, I was awed by the number of hobbit holes and the attention to detail with how they were created. The views were spectacular of the entire village and it looked like hobbits actually still lived there. Everything is how it looked in the movies. Our guide was informative and she even took a picture of all of us in front of a hobbit hole. After the tour, we took in a complimentary drink from the “Green Dragon” tavern, relaxed, and enjoyed the music. This is a place I could retire to!
