What a vacation!  Queenstown is an amazing city with scenery rivaling anywhere else we’ve been to.  We planned this trip to celebrate our 15 year marriage anniversary.  Arriving on Monday, February 13 to a rainy day, we were a little disappointed at first but as soon as the clouds cleared, Queenstown shined.  The Remarkables (Queenstown’s mountain range) still had snow at the top which made for some outstanding viewing from our villa and balcony.  The first day we went to the local supermarket to shop for the week since our place had a full kitchen.  By the way, the Platinum Villas are phenomenal.  Open layout, two levels, heated floors, scenic views, free wifi, and free parking.  Plus it’s only a few minutes drive to downtown.  During our week in Queenstown, we made day trips to Arrowtown, Wanaka, and Glinorchy.  On our actual anniversary day, we went on a Gondala ride and took a cruise in the afternoon aboard the TSS Earnslaw.  Downtown Queenstown is also spectacular with entertainment, gardens, pedestrian street, and great food and cafes.  This is a city which is alive and thriving!  We will definitely come back during the winter to see the Remarkables in all its glory!!
